I don’t believe in years of experience as a measure of someone’s professional abilities.

Yes, it helps but it can’t be taken linearly as -

10 years of experience > 5 years of experience

I see people having more than a decade of experience who are not that good.

  • Their code is sloppy
  • Their algorithms are sub-optimal
  • Their communication is unprofessional
  • The willingness to understand the problem is lacking

So, some recruiters and companies have started adopting proof of work as a measure.

  • Show me your GitHub
  • Show me your commits
  • Show me your code
  • Show me your blogs

This will only get more common in the future.

So get your portfolio and blogs in place to stand out and get hired.
