As a software developer, you need to stay updated. You need to know what’s new in tech.
Thankfully, it’s not so difficult to do so.
- Follow technology accounts on Twitter
- Just search "JavaScript", "Python", "React" on Twitter and you will get accounts dedicated to these technologies. Follow them.
- Follow pioneers on Twitter
- Follow technology and domain pioneers on Twitter. For Python, you can follow Guido (@gvanrossum). For React, you can follow Dan Abramov (@dan_abramov).
- Subscribe to blogs
- Popular languages (eg Java), frameworks (eg jQuery) and even disciplines of software development (eg Agile) have blogs dedicated to them. You can subscribe to these blogs by searching for the keyword in a good RSS reader app like Feedly (All platforms) or News Explorer (Mac). Once you search the term, you will get multiple blogs to follow. Subscribe to them.
These are my top 3 ways to stay updated in tech.
I use any of the approaches based on available choices.
For some topics, blogs are better since I am looking for detailed information. For other topics, tweets are better since I want bite-sized, regular updates.
