Remote Work Communication Tips

These are some of my best practices for communicating with a remote team.

  1. Use images where possible. A picture is worth 1000 words.

  2. Over-communicate and communicate often.

  3. Keep your grammar and spelling on point. You don’t want people to misunderstand your message because of your negligence.

  4. Use GIFs for short screen recordings. GIFs preview automatically so they are a better user experience.

  5. Use videos for longer screen recordings. GIFs are much larger in size in this case so they can take ages to load.

  6. Close your communication app or set the status indicator to offline/busy if you can’t reply at the moment. You don’t want colleagues to message you expecting a quick reply.

I might be missing many but these are the ones that come to mind at the moment.
