When looking for a full-time role with a US client/company, usually IST (Indian Standard Timezone) is a disadvantage.
Why? Because the timezones are opposite.
When they wake, you sleep and vice versa.
So you can’t work with their onsite team unless you are willing to work in the nights (which sucks).
But there’s a catch here.
It’s only critical for companies that are actively building new products (i.e. startups).
These companies require synchronous collaboration hence they require you to work in the same timezone.
But companies which already have established products don’t need sync work that much.
In these companies, you have all the code and documentation already, and you need to solve that bug or implement that feature.
So you can do it anytime you want and your employer will be happy.
And as an Indian, you also have the strategic advantage of being able to fix a bug/work on that feature when the onsite US team is sleeping.
So an India-based employee brings no disadvantage to these companies.
In fact, being in the IST is advantageous in this case.
Target these companies.
